Invest in yourself

With the downfall of the economic climate being realized to its full extent over the past year, it has become quite obvious to many people that there may be no safe places to invest your money any more. This might sound a little dramatic, but I know that from my point of view, I would not be able to trust anybody with my savings anymore, and think that it is well worth investing the money in your own projects instead of trusting somone else with it.

The Best Ways to Invest in Gold

posted by admin in 1

These days of economic uncertainty it is very difficult to decide where to invest your extra money. Stocks and bonds have been very volatile over the past four to five years and commodities are getting a serious hit each day as countries and consumers curb their spending. One of the main areas investors will need to consider seriously is that of investing in gold. Gold prices have soared over the last five years and this in spite of slow world economic growth.

Data Back Up And Storage - A Wise Investment

posted by admin in 1

With the world economy showing no signs of recovering any time soon, it is hard to pinpoint the best investment opportunities. There are more out there then people think though and a quick scan through the various newswires reveals that some businesses are bucking the trends and doing extremely well despite the tough conditions. A good opportunity to look at currently is the multitude of cloud based systems that have sprung to prominence over the last year.

The launch of iCloud by Apple may have grabbed all the headlines last month, but they were extremely slow off the mark to launch their own version of the technology. Iron Mountain has been providing reliable and efficient cloud based storage systems to businesses for quite a long time. As specialists in the field of data back up and disaster recovery, their servers inspire more confidence considering the company has over 60 years of experience. Apple may be riding high, but the recent resignation of Steve Jobs as CEO shows that they are not the Gods of functional IT some people purport them to be.

Iron Mountain has survived by having effective business continuity in place throughout its 60 year existence. There is not another vendor that can match them in the services they provide clients. Disaster recovery, data back up, film and sound archiving, health information management and marketing production make up a fraction of the services on offer. Their online systems are secure and provide the businesses they deal with security and peace of mind. The economic downturn simply hasn’t been a downturn for Iron Mountain. Data storage and back up are in demand. Disaster recovery solutions are in demand. Document management is in demand. As companies across the world grow increasingly wary of losing valuable information, the services on offer here provide a welcome solution.

Investing in a company like Iron Mountain would be wiser then investing in a company like Apple right now. Whilst Apple has the hold on the social market with regards to apps and mobile devices, they cannot compete on back up and storage. Mobile communications is a crowded and over publicised market. Data back up and recovery is not, meaning that financially it is more viable for an investor. This demand for cloud based services will only increase as the economy tightens its belt even further. Companies are becoming more aware of how important it is to archive and back up important information. Potential investors should take note…

Investing in Metals

While the stock and bonds markets underwent a significant financial problems a week back, commodity markets cannot be classified as loosing. Despite the problems that the oil traders met when the prices rapidly dropped to quite lesser value, the metal trade gives good results on the commodity markets as gold gained record high value on the US commodity markets, and gains were also marked by nickel, copper and aluminium.

Sick Economy Hiding Some Gems

With the Eurozone teetering like an alcoholic on the edge of a cliff, investment opportunities are looking harder and harder to come by. The recent downgrading of the US triple A credit status and the increased tension still present in most of Asia has meant 2011 has been a pretty poor year so far for investors. Share prices have been falling at an alarmingly regular rate but whilst this has led traders to recommend buying portions that might rise in a year’s time, the general feeling is that share investment is unreliable.

This gloomy attitude is reflected in a report The Guardian published in their money section just a few days ago. The consensus amongst traders is that the number of companies that could have been relied upon to return a good dividend several years ago, are now so sick with low confidence that investors have actually been jumping ship. Interestingly there are still some investments that look promising.

Gold has remained fairly stable across the world and a few city traders have stated that buying shares in gold mining companies isn’t a bad thing to think about. Whilst it’s true that banks globally are sitting on their reserves, share prices have remained on a firm ground with some companies seeing sporadic rises. The only uncertainty for gold at the moment is the nervousness of the price soon hitting the top and then falling away suddenly. Some investment firms have urged caution as a result.

One industry sector that is seeing gains rather then falls is the mobile phone and broadband group. With the reliance on the internet and mobile phones higher then ever, share prices in many companies have been looking positively healthy. One niche that may be worth looking into is the mobile broadband abroad sector. With only a few companies specialising in this at the moment, shares are not as expensive to buy into then in the standard mobile and ISP companies. Considering the increase in business and personal travel, the advance of Smartphone technology and the pressing need to stay connected, broadband abroad may be a high dividend return.

Whilst many sectors have been badly hit by the recession, there are still investment opportunities out there for people willing to look. The pervading sense of fear infecting the economy has allowed smaller companies to gain a foothold and earn trust from the consumer that ordinarily would have been taken by larger firms. The clouds are still dark, but there are silver linings to be found.
